Sophos Virus Removal Tool Review
Sophos Virus Removal Tool is a free rootkit, malware and virus detection software application developed by Sophos Ltd for Windows. It is designed to be a second opinion scanner that can remove infections that your normal security program might have missed, as well as removing existing ones from the computer without causing any damage or affecting system stability.
The application uses a nicely structured interface that enables users to choose which areas of the computer they want it to scan, although it is recommended that all available regions are scanned in order to find any hidden threats. When scanning, the software will display the paths of each file, indicating which are safe and which need to be removed, while also giving detailed information about each one such as its name, description, and whether it is a virus or not.
After completing a scan, the application will display a list of the found files, detailing which are infected and showing any symptoms that have been detected such as registry entries and registries, memory, file and directory objects, structure, activity, visibility, impersonation, boot survivability and more. Once all the threats have been found, the application will automatically delete them from the computer.
Another key feature of the application is that it can be run without any installation, allowing it to be used on external data storage devices such as USB flash drives and portable SSDs. The application is also able to detect and remove threats while the operating system is running, and it uses proprietary cloud technology in order to ensure that its anti-virus signatures are always up to date, eliminating the need for re-installation each time it is ran.
